HOT!

June 7th, 2008 |

it’s gonna be a SCORCHER today. Our temps are supposed to reach into the low 90’s both days this weekend. Now, I for one am not going to complain about this because we had a long horrible freezing ass cold winter, and we all said “I CAN’T WAIT TIL IT’S SUMMER”. Well my friends, summer is here! I am stoked. I am going to replenish the popsicle supply as well as the beer supply as well as maybe one of those buckets O tasty alcoholic beverage supply. Those are DARN tasty when its hot out. Make more iced coffee and maybe even drink some water! I was even wicked smaht and went running before the temps got to much to bear. I told my friend Danielle ( HI DANIELLE!) that while I was on my home stretch, I could already feel it getting hotter.. or was that me! HaHa.. a little hot weather humor. So witty I am. Ok, it’s not even hot yet and my brain is melting, oh that’s because I haven’t had any coffee. I better fix that.
Have a great weekend and stay cool… as in air conditioned. Because your already “cool” if your reading this awesome/boring as hell blog.

if your bored. read this.

I was thinking. I do believe my purpose in life was to be a mom. I can press play on DVD player just as well as the next person. I buy bags of dumdum lolli’s and try to always have popsicles in the summer time, I make a mean batch of brownies and sometimes I do something really great that make my kids think I’m pretty smart. Occasionally. Not alot.. but it has been known to happen. I can’t think of anything right now, but it’s happened. However, as much as I like to think I was put on this planet to be a mother to these two maniacs… I was NOT meant to be a soccer mom. I just can’t take it anymore. Miles is almost done with his season {happy dance} and it would have gone great if we didn’t have parents trying to coach while Mr. Knitpho is actually the coaching, and if we didn’t play teams that their coach is one of THOSE coaches who instill the KILL attitude. A la Karate Kid. You know the scene I speak of, in the dojo when Daniel walks in to check it out .. anyway..(have you seen this, we love it) This last week at Miles soccer games, it was all fine and dandy for the most part. One woman (from the KILL team) commented to her friend but just loud enough on my boys hair.. and that his parents must be hippies. So of course, what am I to do except bitch slap her. Then on Sunday, one of our moms who is one of the insane crazy side line coaches (which is super annoying!) was hawking looooogies the whole time. Yes. The mom. While her two girls were pulling Mia out of her chair so they could sit down in it… and one of her little girls was trying to take the gum out of my mouth. Why didn’t I tell them to FREAKING CUT IT OUT ALREADY… ohyeah.. that’s right. They didn’t speak ANY english. The parents were SO involved in the game, the girls were some how my responsibility. I attract stupid people like moths to flames? Maybe I need to change my perfume. I should make a note of that. We have 2 more practices, maybe.. 1 since it’s raining today. 2 more games. Trophies are on their way. Season done, next weekend. WOOOOOT! Sayonora sweetheart.

Mia’s soccer on the other hand, for the first time since we started went really well. They switched out the instructor who is young and not a mental case. She was super energetic and just really did a fantastic job. I left their quite pleased…since she is a whopping 17years old, she even had the common sense to walk up to crazy baby mama and say…. GET OUT OF THE WAY!! Crazy baby mama was shocked and taken aback.. and gathered her gym floor licking baby, the mush she was feeding it and are you ready for this? PUT THE BABY IN ITS STROLLER! i know!!! Take a minute, I was just shocked. I didn’t have my cell phone (i know, i forgot it,dumbass) or I would have texted each and everyone one of you with a pic to prove it. It was a good day.

Today, is also going to be a good day. Mia gets to do a meet & greet at her soon to be pre-school. She is over the moon excited, now if only the diva GOT time, and couldn’t flipping understand that she isn’t staying to go..she’s just checking it out. Time is a big deal to a 3year old. All she knows is 1:00. Is it 1o’clock yet? Are we going to see KungFu Panda at 1? No, it’s not out yet? Will it be out at 1? Can we get popcorn at 1 today? When we go see KungFu Panda. <— this people! is EVERYDAY for the last week. I shit you not.

Rambled enough for now.. I know your all just on the edge of your seat and can’t wait to hear the shenanigans I might get myself into next.

PEACE OUT.

UPDATES!

May 14th, 2008 |

You know, I’m not knitting right. I want to, I really do. But nothing is keeping my attention at the moment that I am in LOVE with. Thats why I am going to do the sweater.. I think I’ll love the challenge of it. Remember if you haven’t yet.. comment on the 2YEARS post below and I will pick the winner and the yarn this week.

So, update #1. Soccer. It was yesterday. Yes, the teacher did indeed show. But, that’s all about all she did. Here I was under the impression that it was a teenager full of attitude..but it was a lady older than me who didn’t know what the hell she was doing. A bunch of 3 & 4 year old girls running around and all she did was say.. hey you.. kick toward that goal and you kick toward that goal. That was the whole ‘class’. Oh and wannabeUBERmom? She was there. With her daughter, who’s 4, who was riding in a stroller, fast asleep through the entire 45min class. Who took out her nonstop eating baby to feed her on the gym floor (ofcourse, right?) and let her crawl while the girls were playing soccer. AND THEN IT HAPPENED. I (semi) cracked. She asked me to watch Mia, so she wouldn’t step on her baby. I stopped. I even said. “pardon me”. She said it again. “I just don’t her to run over ______.” {I can’t remember that baby’s name} Anyway. I took a deep breath and said, yeah.. I wouldn’t want Mia to get hurt. and I did a nice F U smile.. you know the one. The baby continued to crawl where the girls were playing and I told Mia to just play like the baby wasn’t there, because SHE SHOULDN’T BE CRAWLING AROUND THE ‘FIELD’ TO BEGIN WITH!” Is she stupid? Really? What doesn’t she get? I hate her.

Update #2. The birds. They are two days old now. And already getting bigger.
day two
Today they are sleeping a lot and haven’t been as noisy as they were yesterday. The mom & dad however are very loud and have been singing all day. The babies still can’t open their eyes but they have sprouts of little feathers here and there and they are just the cutest things ever. I told my SIL, that I almost want to regurgitate food myself for the little guys. Almost.

Update #3.my toe. wk 2 I haven’t wrote about this yet. But today.. I am going to share with you.. my toe. A couple of weeks back my 2nd toe on my left foot was hurting every time I ran. One day, Mia noticed that even under the nail polish, it was a different color than the rest. Hmmm. She’s right. I removed the nail polish, only to find a gnarly, nasty, black toe nail. Supposedly you get this when you run… or up your speed or your mileage. Well, I have done all three in a matter of the last month, so all my toes should be black at this rate. It’s gross.. but in a deep demented sort of way, I’m kind of proud of it. A little reminder of how far I’ve come in this dreaded exercise bullshit.

That’s about it from this tired old lady. It is a beautiful day here in Massachusetts and I’m off to blow bubbles with my favorite 3 year old in the whole wide world.

HOLY EXHAUSTION!

April 25th, 2008 |

Finally recovering from the crazy weekend..and now it’s Friday! As tired as I was, you’d think I had run the darn thing. I think we’re finally back to normal, whatever that is anyway. I have not knitted a stitch in over a week… I don’t know if it’s the schedule.. the projects themselves, or just my mood? But, I better snap the hell out of it, because my sister in law and myself are hopping the car.. ditching the husbands and heading out to WEBS on Sunday to see Le Harlot, again. Last time, was when we had first started knitting and we were just turned on to her blog. This was pre-blog for me, and I acted like a total dink when I met her. Sarah is laughing her ass off just thinking of the last time I came in contact with the Yarn Harlot… I promise to not act like a total dillweed this time.

So, we’re on spring break here in lovely Massachsuetts. I was thankful for the school break on Tuesday and even Wednesday..but now I’m done and with everyone home, including Mr. Knitpho.. the walls are closing in on me. It’s hard sharing my personal space.

I hope to cast on something to knit while watching the Harlot do her thing, make a list of what is my priority to start knitting with yummy yarn to be found at WEBS. For MY Clapotis, for MY Central Park Hoodie.. those are my main two priorities.

Have a great weekend…do something fun. Our temps are about to drop from lovely high 70’s to rainy 50’s & low 60’s. SUCK! But, that’s New England for you …

On Monday, you’ll hear all about our adventures to the great yarn store, the Harlot, YARN!, and how I acted.. which is always a little iffy.

Just dropping by to say hi to everyone. There is so much going on this week .. that I’m quite ready for it to be over. Actually we’ve made it over the hump and now its smooth sailing until Saturday..then Sunday.. then the big day on Monday. Mia survived or shall I say I survived the ballet recital yesterday, the newness of it all has worn off an you can tell that she’s ready to hang up her ballet shoes for a bit and slip into some shin guards. I’ll be happy when it’s officially over in a couple of weeks and I can be done with those moms. They were JUST as insane at the recital .. loud, inappropriate laughter, letting their littles one crawl up and over to their older sisters while they were ‘performing’. I was thankful I wasn’t taping this one, because it would have been a total waste. mia ballerina
But she was beautiful and danced her little heart out.

In other news…

me ... I got a haircut and a highlight. WOOHOO. I was in DESPERATE need… DESPERATE I tell you. I’m quite pleased and will look fabulous for my husband when he crosses the finish line on Monday. I had to look good in those pictures, instead of with horrid looking roots you know! So.. happy happy me.

Also.. you’ll have to look for me (and my nice hair) ..(oh and my husband) at the Red Sox game on Saturday! Then ofcourse we’ll go BACK to Boston on Sunday and be there for Monday and so you’ll have to check in to see where Sandy is at during the marathon..I’ll post more about that over the weekend.

Hope all my blogfriends are good and you are enjoying springtime. It’ll be nice when things settle a bit and I can go back to knitting and crafty goodness.

Counting down.

April 14th, 2008 |

One major April event down… one to go. My man’s birthday weekend was a good one. FANTASTIC weather on Saturday..not so fantastic on Sunday, but we dealt. Thanks for the birthday wishes for him, it helped ease him into next decade of his life just a bit more! So, now that this milestone event is done and over with, it’s time to move onto the next! Marathon Monday is one week from today, and he’s ready! He’s nervous.. but he’s ready to run. The week is going to be busy with chaos and general crap. Mia the ballerina has her FINAL (thank GOD!) ballet recital on Wednesday… and we still have that pesky science project to not only just work on.. START! Yes.. we haven’t even begun. GREAT! It’s due in two weeks!! Next week is spring break though, so hopefully we’ll be able to rock it out. We have a birthday party on Saturday to go to, and HOPEFULLY I’ll be going to Fenway Park with my hubby to see the Red Sox Saturday night and ditch our.. I mean leave the kids with their favorite Aunt & Uncle! Then, we’ll go back into Boston on Sunday and overnight there…and then ofcourse, the 26.2 on Monday.. for him,not me.. but you knew that!! I hope I meet Lance Armstrong.. or should I say.. I hope Lance Armstrong meets me! Here’s hoping. Unless I become a total dolt, which has been known to happen when I cross paths with anyone who has even the smallest amounts of fame, I’m sure security will pick me out pronto!

In the meantime, I’m knitting when I can… all sorts of projects in all directions! I hope I make to Wednesday night this week too!
That’s about it from this lady, and now back to the mountains of laundry that await. It’s NEVER ending!

BIG WEEKEND!

April 11th, 2008 |

It’s FRIDAY! It’s the start of a big weekend here at chez Knitpho. The Red Sox are playing the ….. team from NY. I don’t think I’m even allowed to type the “Y” word anywhere on my blog. Especially because it’s Mr. Knitpho’s birthday weekend. What kind of wife would I be, if I started using bad words on the precious blogosphere.

As far as the birthday weekend goes, it’ll be a lot of relaxing and last minute training sessions for Mr. Knitpho as the marathon is right around the corner and gearing up for that too! What do I have planned for the birthday … well.. we’ll talk more about Mr. Knitpho and his birthday on Sunday.

Right now, I’m going to drag my sorry flabby arse to the gym .. run my little heart out .. pump some iron .. and then flex my (invisible) muscles in the mirror when I get home.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SOX!

It’s Wednesday….

April 9th, 2008 |

and you know what that means. BALLET DAY!

natalie dee
nataliedee.com

I’m going to print a bunch of these off and hand them out!

What do you think will happen today.. Hey.. I’m not here to cause problems.. I just want to go to take my ballerina to do her groovy ballerina moves! By the way? Where’s the rule that says you have to talk to every mom at ever extra curricular activity? If that was in the rule book, I missed it. And because I missed it, it doesn’t apply to me. What’s funny is that I love to chat up random people.. I love to make new friends and to spread my wings and be the social butterfly I was born to be. But… sometimes you don’t..and sometimes you won’t. You just can’t… I can’t mesh with everyone, I’d sure like to… but we’re not all meant to be friends. I’m sorry.. but it’s true. (i’m not really sorry) So, send me some killer vibes today at around 330p EST, that I don’t get mauled and killed by the scientific spiritual leader of the group and she puts my aura into a spinning state of despair. (those were her words to describe her daughter one week when she was misbehaving!) Anyway, I better leave early to get me some *bux before, so I am caffeinated and my guard is up and my ninja moves in full force.

In the meantime… still knitting on the clap (scarf version!) and I cannot WAIT to do the full version. I know the yarn I want… wanna see?

Once we get through this big birthday for Mr. Knitpho and the big 26.2 on the 21st … it’ll SHALL be mine …allllll mine. It’s SPICEY HOT! Do you think if I bought it for Mr. Knitpho for his birthday, he’d mind? Hmmmm. Something tells me .. NO!

Happy Wednesday!

mommy is getting ANGRY!

April 3rd, 2008 |

What is up with the moms at Mia’s ballet class. They suck! I mean, I like to socialize as much as the next person and you know “connect” with other moms who might be going through the same trials as I may be. But not these hippy moms. I am not a birkenstock, granola eating, cotton diaper using kind of mom. I am a puma wearing, M&M loving, fill up the landfill with disposable diapers kind of mom. So.. i have NOTHING in common with these ladies. I used to be in a GREAT ballet class.. well, not me.. but Mia, the moms were cool and Mia got along great with the girls. Then, me the dumbass forgot to resign up and the class was full! My bad, and boy did I pay the price! These moms take over the waiting area, along with their 2nd child in tow. Humungous strollers packed to the til with only God knows what and FOOD and TOYS and BLANKETS and, well the list goes on and on. Now, I’ve come to notice that they don’t play with any of these things and they just sit and bang on the glass door into the dance room where the girls are. Even though the parents have been asked NOT to let the siblings do this because A. It’s glass and B. IT”S EFFING ANNOYING. In our class this week, I sat my butt down,on the floor because granola muncher #1 had her boys laying across the bench playing his gameboy, because “he likes to lay down and play it”, and I said.. “well, I like to sit down ON BENCHES! So, the boy moved over, just enough.. but kept kicking me.. and do you think the mom said ONE thing? NOPE! But, I did. Then I got up, moved across the room and sat with my knitting. I pulled my needles out and just sat by myself and was happy happy… THEN.. granola mom #2 has a little one who’s crawling. GREAT.. but, all over the gross disgusting YMCA floor? and then EATS from her TUB O GRANOLA? I know.. go throw up, I’ll be here. So, this little girl now has honey & granola stuck all over her hands and what is she doing? She’s GRABBING MY BALL O YARN. What’s the mom doing? Talking, with her back turned to me…. and oblivious to her 1year old. So, I grab my stuff and kind of give a little NO NO NO ..and finally say YO..LADY! GET YOUR KID OFF ME YARN! “Oh” the lady says… she is inspired by all textures” .. I just stared at her horrified..and finally I said, well, her hands area really gross, and this is really expensive…
So, I don’t think they will be talking to me anymore ..thank GOD. I’ll just sit in my corner and knit. I know this comes across as totally bitchy & a total hater.. but really? Am I wrong? I don’t let my kids act like that in public, and I have a lot of friends who don’t let their kids do that either? It just totally rubbed me the wrong way and I had to to vent. So..thanks for reading… and if your one of those moms in the waiting room… make a note of this, won’t you? Your annoying.

hmmmmm

March 27th, 2008 |

well. I got nothing. blogging slump? knitting slump? whatever is, I am OFFICIALLY probably the most boring person on earth. Oh, there’s been a lot going on, just nothing that could translate into blog! I mean, parenting is parenting..working out is working out..knitting is, well it’s there but I don’t know WHAT to work on. I just may jump on the Clapotis bandwagon, because I think I may be one of only a handful of knitters who hasn’t done one. I thought, do I need this, do I want this? Then I saw two up close last night and well… YUMMY. So, yeah last night. I, Melody. Got to attend her very first every Stitch-n-Bitch at the local B&N with a bunch of other hysterical knitters. I thought I had fun with beer & knitting on a Saturday night, come to find out.. it’s just as much with Starbucks! I’d show what I’m knitting..but it’s boring as HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL. I need something SPICY! But Bethe? I did find some funfur and I might just do it.. I just might. People?! Wait til you see what’s on deck… probably the funniest thing ever. But it’ll have to be a surprise.

And.. since I have nothing else to talk to you about.. I’m going to TOOTTOOTTOOT my own horn… mmm k? I was oot and aboot and we were at Babies R US and the Kiddie Kandid people are there, and they asked if they could take Mia’s picture for fun & stuff and give me the prints… FOR FREE! Ummmm. ok. (like I’m going to say no!) Now, little Miss Mia does not like having her photo taken, she’s a big fake smiler and chooses to always look away. So, I don’t get her picture taken, because she’s annoying!! But, her inner super model shined through and well.. here she is in all her model glory …

IMG 0239

and then.. that same day .. Miles came home with his school pics and ummmm yeah. he’s 9! 9! But, somehow he went through some kind of time warp tunnel and fastforwarded 3 years..and this is him as 12. But really.. he’s 9.

IMG 0237 2 1

So…toottoot .. A day when all the stars were alligned and the picture Gods worked their magic.

That’s it from this knitpho… I think I’ll try and work on my crochet ears again.. or I’ll just have Bethe do it..or mail them to Carole in FL.

Peace out.
