ok then..

August 12th, 2008 |

so i have since settled down from my last post.. and I thought the whole things was very humorous and made me have quite a chuckle. S
Since we’ve spoke last, we’ve been pretty busy. Two weeks til school starts, so we’re busy getting supplies and just trying to cram as much summer as we can until August 26. Dear Dear August 26. When both my kiddies will start school and I can grocery shop in peace.
Also, the Ravelympics have started, if you don’t know what this is, (your lame) I mean.. you have got together with a team, and you’ve decided on an event and you try to knit a (challenging) project from the lighting of the torch, up until the thing gets snuffed out. We had fun little party at Erins with all my BAMFK peeps with LOTS o FOOD and drinks and I was off and running, and then I came to a screeching halt. You your best breaky screechy noise.. and that was me. I had troubles, I could get my squares to look like I wanted them too… so, I gave the project a time out and took a breaky break. I e-mailed the designer (thank you Ravelry!) and she said she’s help me if I was still having trouble, but everything I was doing sounded right! So.. today. The squares came off the time out bench and I just went with it. Putting a lot of love into this little blankey! Now. I hope the extra love I’m feeling for the blankiie now cancels out all the swearing and throwing I did in on Sunday.
So.. here it is:

I’ll be able to get some major squares in, we’re heading up to Maine. Squares! Squares! Squares!

Ummmmmm

here we are … back to Monday! and almost at August. this month just flew by and this summer is just a blur. That isn’t supposed to happen. We need to get some family adventures in before these kiddies start school. M has been in tennis everyday so that leaves out adventures during the week .. and the weekends.. oh the weekends! Every weekend since school got out, we’ve had something going on. I’m not complaining - but the days after, we are all exhausted and just want to relax and do our own thing. Popularity is ROUGH. I kid. I kid.

In the meantime, between all this goings on. I have picked up the needles to pass the time.
This is the SLAVE TO THE PLURK sock. I wasn’t going to plurk. I ignored the invite. But my peeps convinced me, and yes, it is a lot of fun, and we are all really funny .. so it’s nice to have these little rants with each other during the day and sometimes, hysterical laughter. So, why not knit the Plurk socks to kill some MORE time.

I don’t have any sewing projects on the horizon and the Ravelympics are right around the corner. Team BAMFK .. and I’m tackling quite the little baby project for a good friend of mine. Here’s hoping the pressure of signing up and challenging myself will do the trick to get it done.

Today, I HAVE to start back at the gym. I took a whole week off to sort through my spinning head. You know those days where you just can’t get the chatter to settle down and something has to give. Well, that was my week last week and I think the voices would, if I had been running or hitting that core class like normal. So, I’m back to the my regular scheduled workouts and we’ll see if this helps me sleep at night.

Have a great week!

… and it’s Monday again.

July 14th, 2008 |

Today we woke up to a cloudy day and a cool breeze. It feels so nice, and it was a beautiful weekend. No AC, just open windows, sitting outside, knitting, a cocktail or 2, plurking …most excellent. But, yet - I am waking up feeling groggy and not getting enough sleep. If I don’t fall asleep right away, I am waking up in the middle of the night, unable to fall back asleep. Now, before you suggest I take something - believe you me, I would, except if it knocks me out.. then that will the night that Miles sleepwalks again and leaves the house for realz this time, and that’ll be the night that Mia throws up all over the place and no one will be able to awake the beast! So, alas - I will not sleep .. I will suffer through it, until it passes… then catch up in one big chunk.

So, I am still working on CPH..the left front panel. It’s coming along, slowly but surely. Im about half way through it, and that’s ALL I’m working on, since I am representin’ team BAMFK in a certain event for the Ravelympics. SNORT.. saying it out loud.. too funny. Knitting Nerd! Except, I am going to try and keep it on the DL.

Over the weekend, we went for a nice little hike with the M’s.

It was really nice and I thought we were going to wear them down to exhaustion. It kind of worked, but Mia is the worst sleeper ever - and she was up off/on through the night, and not up, just not sleeping well and crying a lot in her sleep, which in turn - keeps us all awake. Hence, the groggy feeling this morning.

Let’s see? Anything else? M has tennis, and we’re heading to the gym.. where I plan on getting my arse kicked in the core class. It’s a new teacher today, which makes me a bit a nervous - she just might really have it out for everyone. Time to get the crew ready and myself to look presentable to head out into the world.

Happy Monday!

Strange..

You know, I don’t like bunnies. Actually, I don’t like white bunnies with those red eyes. Those things will rip your throat out and have you for breakfast, lunch & dinner. EEEEEK! But, for some reason, I have been on a bit of a bunny kick, knitted bunnies that is.

So, I made this little guy and it took me a few hours over the course of a couple of days. It’s made with Tahki Torino Bulky, it is so skwooshy soft, and I think the little recipient will be quite pleased.
It’s from the LionBrand website, I’d link you, but frankly - I’m just too damn lazy. Ravelry it!

Still working on CPH, slowly but surely. Still almost done with the back. I am going to try to finish that up today. But, before anything, this lady needs to grab herself a Starbucks!!

What’s this?

bunny hat!

Oh me Oh my, I knitted and completed something in three whole days. I know I know.. hold your applause. Pretty awesome, right? I needed a quick fix and take a break from the red! the arm holes! the cables! So, here is what I came up with. I have a few babies on the way and thought I’d start knitting for them , since they’ll start to pop out in droves from now until winter.

Other than this sad little bunny hat, I’ve done NOTHING else. A lot of taxi service. A lot of staying cool inside with AC. Really… a whole lotta nothing.

It’s the end of the year school insanity. I look forward to no alarms… no lunches..no homework. But today my friends is the last day of soccer practice for the boy - and we’ll cross that off our list too after last game on Saturday.

HELLLLLZ YA.

Ok… time to get ready to go and find something to knit, so piss of that one mom who hates me knitting just ONE MORE TIME.

and so it begins ….

CPH, originally uploaded by rkymtnmel.

I swatched. I casted on. 4″ of ribbing done. Now, it is time for the pattern. Cables… easy peasy. I just have to make sure I twist them in the right direction.!! MUST REMEMBER THAT! Then, the arm holes, which I’m sure I’ll have to enlist assistance. But, until then .. I am very excited to have a project to be excited about…and challenging. I’m always up for a challenge!

Now… laundry awaits..and the kitchen looks like it was struck by a tornado.

I’m off like a dirty shirt. Have a good day!

oh yah! the birds… they are one week old! and they are getting bigger. All 4 of them doing well and they all crammed inside their little nest. Very snugly, look like they are well fed and they should be learning to fly this week!

growing up. 1 week old

bandwagon jumper!

***if your my mother.. quit reading RIGHT NOW ***

starting the clap

DUDES!! i cannot tell you how moronic I have been and not knitting the Clapotis earlier. I am LOVING this knit!!! LOVING! It’s all I want to do.. too bad that life is getting in the way and throwing me off the rythym of the clap! I don’t think there is anything so satisfactory as dropping those stitches, ON PURPOSE!check out these dropped sts!
I get all goose bumpy just thinking about it!! It’s delightful. Now, granted.. I am only doing the ‘half clap’ , so does that mean it’s half as enjoyable? I THINK NOT. I cannot wait to get some really great colorful yarn and do the whole thing for one for myself? This one is for my mom … who hasn’t read in the blog in forever..so with my luck she’ll sign on, I’m sure. But, she’s teeny tiny… you can fold her up and put her in your pocket.. so as lovely as the Clapotis is in full form, I don’t think she’d enjoy it as much. I’m on target to get this to her by Mother’s Day.. I don’t think that is going to be an issue at all!

This weekend has been low key and lovely. A calm before the storm. But, the regular things that Sunday brings to get the family ready for the week, took me away from the knitting today, and I cannot wait for the little monsters (husband included!) ( I say that with love) to hit the sack and I can drop those stitches to my hearts content!!! While I watch Rock of Love and Celebrity Fit Club… what a night, only if I had some wine. :( that would make it all complete.

I hope your weekend was super duper and you have a great week… I hope to have a finished clappy to show you and then I won’t feel so ostracized on Wednesday night.

she knits?

April 1st, 2008 |

yes! I do knit… occasionally so it seems. Lately I have been in a funkadelic funkalicious funk. I haven’t had the knitting mojo..and none of the fiber I had stashed away was speaking to me in any good way. After my trip to the SnB last Wednesday with all these super fierce knitters.. I was motivated to start something lovely…and so I did, a few days later.

This is the makings of the Haruha scarf.. it’s done in fingering weight on size 6 needles.. so it would go even faster if I paid attention to the chart (you really have to concentrate on those things!) and I have to keep ripping back row after row. CURSES…but it’s a nice little challenge to have something like this on the needles, and something to do anyway! To refresh my knitting pallet, garter stitch bibs baby.. talk about easypeasy lemon squeezy. I started late last night, and am half way through. I love stuff like that!

Well, this knitpho has things to do so I guess I should get started. After a ‘all nighter’ Sunday night with my two kiddos..that meant nothing got done yesterday. So, now I’m behind… GREAT!

Toodle-oooo!

Green beer anyone?

March 17th, 2008 |

Monday you evil beast…your back again. Usually I enjoy Monday, I enjoy sending the menfolk back out into the world and the girl & myself getting back to life as we know it. But, today I just want to stay in bed. Sigggggggh.

However, yesterday was fantastical. Miles is part of the school chorus, and they were asked to sing the National Anthem at the Worcester Sharks hockey game. So we got us some tickets, my SIL & BIL came with us and we watched perform his little heart out. He was perfectly positioned so we could see him on the (notsojumbo) jumbro-tron. Well, let me tell you .. I don’t know if it was his inner rockstar, or inner athlete (that we are still waiting for to be released!) but he got a total rush of adrenalin from ‘performing’ in front of everyone. It was very cool and I got a little teary eyed, well.. it is the national anthem after all!

Now … look at this little guy! Elefante, sans ears.

The ears on the pattern have to be crocheted, and well, I dont crochet! So I have tried a couple of different ears and I hate them all! So.. I’ll have figure him out later. Besides, I need a break from elefante, because sewing this beast up is a bitch! But now .. it’s time to put the needles down momentarily and begin adventures with the Singer!!

Happy St. Patricks Day… if your into corned beef and green beer.

The weekend .. finally!

Elefante .. in progress. I am in LOVE with these colors and the stripes. I may not be able to give him away! So, the body is done, the head is almost complete.. I still have to do the legs (they are the most monotonous little things!) and then the dreaded sewing of him all together. Hopefully by Monday I’ll have something to show you!

So, this week brought lots of things.. it was very busy. I only made it the gym once!! My boy had an eye appointment..and those words a mom does not want to hear. HE NEEDS GLASSES! I knew it was coming, both Mr. K and me are blind as bats and we have passed that on to our kids. It’s not a full time wear kind of thing, only for distance, but still .. but for some reason.. it’s no biggie. I guess lots of kids wear glasses these days..and he was excited to try some one. I begged for him to try on some Harry Potter ones, but he refused. He had his eyes dialated, and normally when your looking into Mr. Ice Blue eyes..and then all you see is this..
001 1 2 3 4 5 6
he looked pretty creepy! That was a good source of entertainment for me all day Wednesday. It’s the little things that make my world go around, I swear.

My favorite part of the week, was I got to a hold a brand new baby boy.. only 2 weeks old. It was glorious.. pics in handknit once I upload! BEYOND Adorable.

Today, I took my kids to see Horton Hears a Who!! Let me tell you, the movie theater is a RIPOFF. RIPOFF I SAY! But, thankfully.. I was pleasantly surprised and the movie was very cute, and enough humor for both a 3 and a 9year old to enjoy it.

Now it’s Friday night, the vino awaits… elefante awaits .. and a bag of dark M&M’s that my mom just sent in a surprise box.. for the kids. But really .. do they NEED all those M&M’s for themselves??? Hell to the NO!
